Media Konnect – a global exchange platform for media professionals
We are a film loving country, we watch our dreams, hopes and aspirations come alive through our cinema. We adore our filmstars, in fact even at the risk of worshiping them. But what we actually see on the screen is just the tip of the iceberg.

Apart from all the glitz, glamour and fame, we don’t realise the blood, sweat and tears that goes into making a film. From cinematographers, script writers, technicians, make up artists, spot boys, editors – every talent, skill and craft no matter how minuscule or big in stature is important in completing a film project. There are innumerable challenges faced while making a film, right from getting the right kind of talent, getting reliable people to work with, budget, contracts – the works. Ask a director or a producer of a film and they’ll tell you.
For bigger banners and production houses, their name is enough to get the people to work for them, but what happens to newer talents, smaller and upcoming production houses? Sometimes they’re working on a shoestring budget and roping in big names from the industry is not a viable option for them. They may have excellent concepts and ideas, but not the right contacts to get it out there. This is the time, a neutral platform such as Media Konnect comes into the rescue.

In a recent exclusive bloggers’ meet, The Lifestyle Portal had a chance to witness what a platform Media Konnect is all about and how it strives to regularise and formalise the film and media industry in the country.
Founded by Mr. Ranjit Thakur, Media Konnect is a novel concept that aims to provide an end-to-end solution to media and entertainment professionals to seamlessly find, connect, network and collaborate with like-minded people to work on a particular film project and get the work done.
Ranjit Thakur, the Founder of Scrabble Entertainment was instrumental in digitising every cinema screen in India and making it 2k DCI Complaint and after having transformed over 3,500 screens across the country he embarked on his new journey of Media Konnect.
The journey in the last few years from 2008 – 2014, Mr. Ranjit saw that at the end of the day, the movies released and life moved on for everyone, but one important part was missing and that was the content creators were not making any money and this was observed across the whole world.
As he went on to extend his services of Scrabble Entertainment to 13 different countries, the one thing common across the whole world that he observed, was that the producer – the man who was actually funding the movie was not making any money. There were several reasons and one of them was that they did not have access to the right kind of talent. So the only people who were making money were the stars and the technicians who were making the daily wages. That’s the learning that he got and applied it to a global exchange knowledge platform which he launched in 2015 called Media.

So the only people who were making money were the stars and the technicians who were making the daily wages. That’s the learning that he got and applied it to a global exchange knowledge platform which he launched in 2015 called Media Konnect and Mr. Ranjit owns the patent for the same and he even wrote its own documents.
As an end to end exchange platform for anyone and anybody who was involved in the content creation space Media Konnect was the place to be. The platform was launched in a three-fold approach – first to give all the budding talents a break for their first job, their first movie or short film/ web series.
Secondly, a lot of business that they do in the industry is project-based and talented people don’t know from where their next project is coming from. And the Media Konnect platform was built to connect all these people. The
The third part – all the collabroations and subsidies that exist around the world seeking permission from international governments, all the production houses can leverage on this by trying to increase their revenue by tying up with people and collaborations through Media Konnect.

So if you’re a film maker, a vlogger, a scriptwriter or anyone from the film fraternity wanting to work or collaborate with people in the industry from across the globe, you know where to look.
And guess what? #MediaKonnect running a Short Film Contest now where the best film wins a trip to the Berlin Film Festival!
