Top Yummy Goodies to Gift this Christmas

Christmas is a time to gift love, happiness and surprises and this may come in many forms – a good bottle of wine, a box of exquisite dark chocolate or how about some lovely edible goodies!Florentines

We got the founders of Snack It Fit – Jhelum Narsale and Anushka Jethwani to suggest some delicious and healthy eatables to gift this Christmas and here’s their list.

1. Florentines

There are some goodies which bring along with them the festive cheer. For me, nothing can take the place of the mighty Florentines at Christmas. These lacy almond cookies are probably one of the toughest cookies to bake.

While I have tried many recipes, I have finally adapted and settled on the one by Robert Linxe (of La Maison du Chocolat fame). It is rich, crispy, laden with flavour and delicious.

At ‘Snack it Fit’ we are doing a limited Christmas edition and the delectable Florentines are on top of our list of snacks.

It’s the spices in the gingerbread cookies that makes them so Christmassy. As the aromas of ground ginger, cinnamon, star anise waft through your home as you bake them, you feel only love and gratitude for the whole world (including the bai who’s always taking leave when you need her most). That’s how powerful this cookie is. And if you pair it with mulled wine.. I am not saying anything more!

3. Mulled wine Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is often referred to as ‘Çhristmas in a glass’. When I lived in London, the pleasure of taking a walk on the beautifully lit Oxford street on a cold cold evening and then resorting to warm mulled wine in my favourite pub, was unparalleled.

If I close my eyes today, I can still smell the wine, more than I can taste it. Mulled wine is very easy to make at home. Just gather your favourite red wine, dunk in all your favourite spices (cinnamon stick, star anise, orange slices, bay leaves, vanilla pod) and let it simmer on a really low flame. Allow the flavour of wine to mingle with the spices.

Go ahead, pick these yummy edible goodies from Snack It Fit and make it a delicious Christmas to remember!
