Shloka’s Journey at The Write Compass: A Heartfelt Note from Her and Her Mom

When I started my W.I.N.G.S Program, it felt as though I learnt to fly all over again even with 20+ years of work behind me. Teaching, guiding, and mentoring children is never as simple as it looks. We’re responsible for planting the seeds of courage, hope, creativity, self‑confidence, and positive expression.

As I always say, my role as a mentor goes far beyond marks and syllabus. Life happens outside the four walls of a classroom, and that’s where real learning begins. So in our classes, we talk about kindness, empathy, self‑care, confidence, creativity, problem‑solving, and learning to think out of the box.

A Profession I Deeply Respect

Coming from a family of educators, I’ve always held this profession in the highest regard. It demands immense patience, presence, and heart. I’m truly grateful to the parents who trust me with their children.

From the very first class, the children go home so happy that they can’t wait to return. In the last six months of running this program, I’ve noticed one thing: when we let children be for a consistent, dedicated span of time (around 1 to 1.5 hours every alternate day) and consciously fill that time with fun, art, creativity, laughter, and love, they absorb concepts effortlessly. They want to learn more, think more creatively, and put in more effort, because what they’re being taught doesn’t seem like a chore they HAVE to get done.

A Little Gratitude Goes a Long Way

I want to share a small moment of gratitude from one of the youngest students in my class,  7‑year‑old Shloka and her mum, Shikha. Their notes mean the world to me and inspire me to work even harder.

Shloka is the youngest in our W.I.N.G.S Program, so I ensure every activity, reading, writing, colouring, matches her pace. She reads beautifully for her age, and despite all her mischief, she always writes something wonderfully unique. I feel blessed to be her mentor. Thank you, Shloka and Shikha.

What our Mentorship Program includes for Kids

The Write Compass Program includes two main segments: the W.I.N.G.S Program for younger children, where we use NLP and Art Therapy techniques through writing, art, craft, and simple games; and one for older students, beginning in Grade 8, which focuses on a 6‑month Writing Course. For the younger group, activities nurture creativity, self-confidence, and expression through engaging tasks. For the older students, the Writing Course introduces them to different concepts one at a time, building confidence to write on any academic or personal topic.
