National Poetry Month – ‘Hope of spring’ by Tina Ckandath

Hope of spring

I walked through life’s desert,

Survived the coldest thing.

Just when I was about to lose hope,

He held my hand and began to sing,

“Hey, girl!  Don’t give up yet!

You too will bloom,

Grass will be greener again

Don’t get disheartened

For this is temporary,

because after your winter too, there’s hope of a spring again!”

When I see the transformation,

Of trees that stood almost dead,

The same words start ringing in my head…

You too will bloom…

“Hey Girl! Don’t give up yet!

You too will bloom,

Grass will be greener again

Don’t get disheartened

For this is temporary,

because after your winter too, there’s hope of a spring again!”

It has been a long journey,

When I look back and see,

I’m happy hope came knocking,

It was the nicest thing

I haven’t forgotten what he told me that day,

It’s a song that I now sing

“Hey Girl!, Don’t give up yet!

You too will bloom,

Grass will be greener again

Don’t get disheartened

For this is temporary,

because after your winter too, there’s hope of a spring again!”
