China Ming
I had always noticed the restaurant China Ming while passing The Hub – a mall cum multiplex on the Western Express Highway in Goregaon East. One a particular Saturday evening, we wanted to catch an evening show of the delightful Hollywood flick ‘New Year’s Eve’ at The Hub and so decided to follow it up with dinner at China Ming.
The Hub doesn’t provide many dining options barring a South Indian joint and a McDonalds on the ground floor and a couple of pub-cum lounge bars on the top floor, where China Ming shares the space. China Ming is spacious and has a huge glass window overlooking the Western Express Highway that offers a lovely view of cars and buses buzzing to and fro.
For starters we tried Crispy Fried Prawns, which was quite unique. It consisted of large prawns beaten flat and deep fried until light and crisp and served with a dipping sauce which we totally liked. The Tom Yum soup was refreshing and soothing for my cold and sore throat, while the Drunken Chicken and Chicken Friend Rice for the main course was perfect to end the evening after a movie. A meal for two with drinks should come to around Rs. 1500/-.
Being a Saturday evening, the restaurant wasn’t packed, though it did enjoy a reasonable amount of families dining there. The staff is okay, neither too polite or rude, it’s more like they’re doing their job. But trying out China Ming for Chinese food in the suburbs is not a bad idea. You can go ahead and give it a try!
